Hello World!
We started 2021 off on an eventful note, establishing a high growth benchmark for the rest of the year — not to mention celebrating 2 years since our mainnet launch anniversary!
In January, we saw the listing and trading launch for Hg Exchange’s asset-backed securities (ABS) whisky listing, tokenised by yours truly! By digitising this highly coveted luxury asset that can now be purchased by accredited investors within the platform — we’ve delivered a powerful blockchain use case that indicates what tokenisation can do for a large number of industries. The possibilities are endless and exciting, and we’re looking forward to being part of enabling more open and inclusive finance across the world.
Another major announcement was Zilswap’s new governance token $ZWAP, which launched on 4 February in order to transition decision-making over to the community. This will play a significant role in decentralising the DEX’s network.
A quorum was reached on ZIP-12 (Governance Portal proposal). The proposal outlined a process to democratise future ZIP voting and implementation to create a more self-reliant and decentralised Zilliqa Ecosystem. Thanks to discussion and voting from all our $gZIL holders, we’re one step closer to that goal!
All in all, it was a productive and busy growth month which created engagement, excitement and earned us 3 million tweet impressions!
Technical Updates
The team released Zilliqa version 7.1.0
in mid January (release notes here). This version includes a significant fix for a long-undetected bug around the transaction pool management inside individual miner nodes, which in certain situations could cause transactions to be dropped without getting confirmed. Thanks to an improved transaction tracking feature introduced in version 7.0.0
back in December, we were able to discover the source of the bug, and it should be effectively resolved now on the mainnet.
