Introducing our newly restructured ZILHive Programme

Greetings everyone,

The holiday season is almost upon us, and 2019 is coming to a close. We can’t believe it is December already! It is a time for reflection, celebration and of course at Zilliqa — a lot of planning.

As we set our sights on future growth and continuous development of our $ZIL platform, we are thrilled to reveal that we have chosen to combine our Ecosystem Programme with the other on-going incubation projects across the Education (such as Blockchain A-Z) and Accelerator (such as ZILHive) fronts — consolidating it into one master project which will henceforth be referred to as ZILHive.

Why merge our initiatives? As Zilliqa goes through a growth period as a whole, focusing on enterprise-adoption, it is important we consider the objectives of each project and make sure they are aligned with Zilliqa’s direction forward. This is why we have chosen to sync our different initiatives under the ZILHive brand umbrella. ZILHive will sync these different initiatives to cultivate a meaningful, resourceful environment for developers, entrepreneurs, students, investors, educators and leaders. They will be able to together to pool and allocate resources in order to make Zilliqa the platform of choice to be built on.

As shown in the above logo, ZILHive Grants is a key component of the new ZILHive. You probably know this as the popular USD $5 million Ecosystem Grant Programme, which has been operational for over a year since its launch in August 2018. We saw fantastic results from this initiative and supported 61 global projects from a total of 21 countries.

We find it crucial for the projects we support to be aligned with Zilliqa’s larger growth priorities. Therefore, it is now under the ZILHive umbrella.

Sixth Wave to prioritise ideas for financial applications— Apply now!

Looking ahead to 2020, our ZILHive grant funding will prioritise open-source toolings for financial applications within the Infrastructure track and Research projects aiming to tackle obstacles that is preventing financial inclusion to become a reality within the Research track. To learn more about our tracks, please read our earlier blog.

We are developing each stack of our technical roadmap very carefully, and each of them unifies under a collective vision — that of building a financially inclusive world. You — as part of our valuable community — can work with us to implement your own ideas or help us further enrich our blockchain and smart contracts platforms with toolings or various protocol.

Each building block will then serve the needs of consumers, regulators, and businesses so that the economy on Zilliqa can operate freely and compliantly using this framework. If you would like to tackle any of these building blocks of this next-generation financial world, please consider applying for the ZILHive Grants programme, and officially being a member of the ZILHive sixth wave.
